Halfway Through the Year and the Best Is Yet to Come!
It's hard to believe we're already halfway through 2026! This year has been filled with wagging tails, exciting milestones, and life-changing moments, and none of it would be possible without our incredible Project 2 Heal community.
Every puppy born, every volunteer who gives their time, every puppy raiser who opens their home, and every donor who believes in our mission helps move us one step closer to changing another life.
Here's a look at what we've accomplished together so far this year:
- 23 puppies born
- 7 puppies placed with Puppy Raisers
- 3 puppies welcomed into our Chaperone Program
- 19 puppies donated to our service dog partners across the country
- 1,815 volunteer hours donated
- 2,300 people impacted through our Stress Down Days
- $280,000 raised (and growing!) to help place life-changing service dogs with individuals and families in need across the country
Every one of these numbers tells a story. Behind each puppy is a future filled with greater independence, confidence, healing, and hope for someone who needs it most.
Billy & Montana's Puppies Begin Their Next Adventure
Our newest group of future service dogs is officially spreading their wings!
Billy and Montana's puppies have begun the next chapter of their journeys as they continue their paths toward becoming service dogs.
We're excited to share where they've landed:
- Hero has begun training with MK9s.
- Lego is now training with BluePath.
- Trace has headed to Canines for Service.
- Bunker has started his journey with Fidos For Freedom.
- Marce has joined Paws & Affection.
And then there's JoJo!
JoJo will remain with Project 2 Heal as part of our Started 4 Service Program, where she'll continue learning, growing, and showing us exactly who she's meant to be. Over the coming months, we'll be evaluating whether her future lies as a service dog or if she's destined for another important role—becoming one of Project 2 Heal's future mama dogs.
No matter where their journeys take them, each of these puppies is an important part of our mission, and we can't wait to watch their stories continue to unfold.
Celebrating Mia's Graduation
One of our favorite moments this summer was celebrating Mia's official graduation!
From the day she was born, Mia showed so much promise, and watching her grow into a fully trained psychiatric service dog has been an incredible privilege.
After being lovingly raised through Project 2 Heal, Mia completed her advanced service dog training with Love in the Lead Canine Training, where she mastered the public access skills and specialized tasks she'll use every day to support her future veteran.
Thanks to our partnership with Homefront K9 Project, Mia's training was fully funded, making this life-changing placement possible.
Mia's journey is a reminder that it truly takes a village. Volunteers, puppy raisers, donors, trainers, and supporters all played an important role in helping her reach this milestone. Every person who believed in our mission helped write a chapter of her story.
Congratulations, Mia! We know you'll make an incredible difference as you begin this next chapter, and we can't wait to see the lives you'll change.
Save the Date: Putt 4 Pups Returns This October!
Mark your calendars because one of our favorite events of the year is almost here!
The 13th Annual Lucas Kanelos Putt 4 Pups Golf Tournament is teeing off on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Rolling Hills Country Club.
This annual event brings together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for a day of fun on the course—all while raising critical funds to help Project 2 Heal continue breeding, raising, and placing future service dogs with individuals and families in need.
We're putting the finishing touches on this year's tournament, and we can't wait to share all the exciting details with you!
