CHAPERONE PROGRAM

Program Overview

The Chaperone Program at Project 2 Heal offers a unique opportunity for dedicated individuals to provide a permanent, loving home for our breeding dogs. As a chaperone, you will be responsible for the dog's care throughout its life, with ownership transferred to you once the dog retires from its breeding duties.

Responsibilities

Daily Care:
  • Provide food, water, and regular exercise.
  • Maintain grooming routines including weekly ear cleanings, teeth brushing and occasional baths.
  • Monitor the dog's health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the Director of Operations.
Health and Vet Visits:
  • Ensure dogs attend all scheduled veterinary appointments.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and keep health records up to date.
Training and Socialization:
  • Participate in evaluations and supportive training sessions to reinforce obedience and social skills.
  • Provide a stimulating environment with regular play and interaction.
Breeding and Whelping Support:
  • Follow breeding procedures and protocols as directed by Project 2 Heal staff.
Lifetime Commitment:
  • Commit to keeping the breeding dog as a cherished member of your family for its entire life.
  • Ownership of the dog is transferred to the Chaperone upon its retirement. Owner will continue to provide a stable and loving home during its senior years.

Requirements

  • Commitment: Must be able to commit to the program for the dog's entire life.
  • Living Arrangements: Provide a safe and loving home environment.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the dog, including emergencies.
  • Experience: Previous experience with dogs is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
  • Communication: Must have a working email address that you check regularly. Keep open communication lines with the Project 2 Heal staff and be responsive to inquiries, calls or emails.

Application Process

  • Application Form: Complete the Chaperone Program application form.
  • Interview: Participate in an interview with our Director of Operations to ensure a good match.
  • Home Visit: Allow a home visit to assess the living environment and discuss the program in more detail.
  • Training: Attend mandatory meetings or training sessions to prepare for your role as a chaperone.
  • Approval: Once approved, you'll fill out a Chaperone Contract and be matched with a breeding dog.
